HSBC
Rich Internet Applications (RIA) consultancy
Despite being the sixth-largest banking and financial services group in the world, HSBC Holdings plc still appreciates the need for independent expertise – five one two were able to provide just that when the group needed an in-depth review of trading portal RIAs across tier-1 financial organisations and asset classes.

five one two were also asked to research financial asset classes, institutional, corporate and retail e-trading, along with RIA delivery platforms and produce a whitepaper to document both findings and recommendations related to technical approaches and user experience.

Research commenced by identifying key organisations and approaching CIOs/CTOs and Business Head level stakeholders to discuss and analyse RIAs and e-trading trends and directions. We then created a ‘competitive landscape’ across organisations, asset classes and segments of the business – institutional through to retail.

The final part of five one two’s extensive research covered competitors such as UBS FX Trader, Morgan Stanley Matrix and Barclays Capital BARX. As well as investigating their current technology platforms we also identified future development plans and strategy.

The in-depth white paper was distributed to Managing Director level stakeholders within e-trading for the HSBC Investment Bank sector, and we have advised smaller trading houses and brokerages directly about results from the study.

The success of the white paper has led to further work with HSBC and other companies on future state analysis and research on HTML5 developments compared to alternative technologies such as Adobe, Silverlight and Java.

It is a service five one two also provide to other organisations in other industries.
